ESKO METSOLA started his career with Finnish Television and studied at the School Of Industrial Arts in Helsinki where he graduated having covered all aspects of Film & Television production and still-photography.

After studying the art of film-making in Spain he moved to Sweden working in every capacity of film producing.

 

An offer from Colombia to produce commercials & documentaries as an independent producer for the film & television market kept him busy for close to three years and the variety of his work gave him a deep knowledge of the commercial aspect of his craft.

​

Taking up an interesting offer from South Pacific Television In New Zealand he worked on an immense variety of productions that added tremendously to his knowledge of film & video production.

​

A year and a half later he was offered the position of director/cameraman by the Ministry Of Information in Zimbabwe. Four years later he was promoted to chief film producer.

​

In addition of the normal work of film producer his duties also included the production and distribution of films for rural audiences in Zimbabwe and he gained valuable experience in the operations of mobile cine units and in the field of promoting audio-visual education for rural audiences.

​

He left government services after 9 years and established his own film production company, Zimbabwe Interfilms in 1985 and has since worked on countless productions of local and international feature films & TV series.

​

Furthermore he has worked on regional & international documentaries and films in the capacities of producer, director, scriptwriter, editor, sound recordist and director of photography.

​

In one capacity or the other he has been involved in the development of Zimbabwe's film industry and willingly shares his technical know-how & international experience in that field. His participation in training courses, seminars & film festivals speaks for his love of the art of film-making & he's well-respected in the industry.

​

Today, he is officially "retired", in Espoo, but he still is developing audiovisual projects and works as a free-lancer in photography, video, and web sites-creating fields.
